Financial Literacy and Education Commission

The Financial Literacy and Education Commission (the Commission) was established under Title V, the Financial Literacy and Education Improvement Act which was part of the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions (FACT) Act of 2003, to improve financial literacy and education of persons in the United States. The FACT Act named the Secretary of the Treasury as head of the Commission and mandated the Commission include 19 other federal agencies and bureaus. The Commission coordinates the financial education efforts throughout the federal government, supports the promotion of financial literacy by the private sector while also encouraging the synchronization of efforts between the public and private sectors.

  • MyMoney.gov is the federal government’s website that serves as the one-stop shop for federal financial literacy and education programs, grants and other information. MyMoney.gov is available in English and Spanish.

  • 1-888-MyMoney is the federal government’s toll-free hotline accessible to the public seeking information about federal financial education materials. Information is available in English and Spanish.

  • Taking Ownership of the Future: The National Strategy for Financial Literacy Icon: PDF Document is a comprehensive blueprint for improving financial literacy in America. National Financial Education Network of State and Local Governments (Network)

The Network's purpose is to bring together representatives from different areas and levels of government across the nation to advance financial education efforts.
